Striding AI, founded in early 2026 by serial entrepreneur Yao Song, Yang Yuxin, Tsinghua researcher Yu Chao and CP Group, unveiled a full retail Physical AI stack targeting 24-hour convenience stores, with commercial service planned for 2027 via direct sales and RaaS subscriptions.
Key components:
- Embodied brain: SLM-0.5 world-action model (2.3B params, latent-space prediction, 98.6% success on LIBERO, <187ms inference, 24x faster than pixel-level baselines); STEAM RL post-training loop on RLinf (95% stocking success); and the Rpent agent built with Tsinghua and Wuxi Qiong for task decomposition and replanning.
- Hardware: bipedal humanoid H1 (1.4m, 26 DoF, 157 TOPS, 45 expressions/36 gestures) for interaction and patrol; wheeled dual-arm C1 (3kg payload, 100–1750mm working height, 2070 TFLOPS FP4) autonomously completing 99% of sorting tasks across 800+ SKUs. A precision-operation A1 robot for checkout/bagging is planned.
- Platform: M1 multi-robot fleet manager prioritizes on-device autonomy so core tasks survive network outages.
The piece argues task-specialized robots beat a do-everything humanoid for current engineering reality.
