ByteDance's Volcano Engine launches AI security gateway for enterprise AI traffic control
火山引擎 · wechat · 2026-10-09
Volcano Engine (ByteDance) launched an AI Security Gateway for enterprises, deployable via proxy, security plugin or bypass mode at the office network egress to centrally govern all traffic between internal agents/AI apps and external models. POC testing is now open.
Key capabilities:
- Traffic visibility: 7-layer traffic mirroring discovers "shadow AI" without network changes; zero-code onboarding of AI sites, desktop clients, CLIs and agents; MCP/Function Calling protocol detection links every call to a specific employee and device.
- Identity & credentials: API-Key/JWT/OAuth2 authentication makes agent AI usage auditable; third-party model keys are vaulted with short-lived rotating credentials; semantic caching and smart routing cut token spend.
- Sensitive data protection: real-time PII detection (95%+ recall) with block/observe/mask actions; confidential computing routes high-sensitivity data into hardware-isolated encrypted memory with remote attestation, binding data classification to model choice.
