Solo founders die chasing tools: the three things that actually close the revenue loop
sujingshen · x · 2026-10-09
A thread on why indie/solo founders fail: "tool churn" — testing new open-source models one day, rebuilding automation workflows the next, ending up with beautiful kanban boards and zero revenue.
Those who close the loop focus on three things:
- Radically minimal stack: use off-the-shelf SaaS over hand-rolled backends, manual over premature automation — the goal is closing a transaction loop fast, not tech vanity
- AI as executor, not commander: AI is great for template code, data cleaning, and marketing collateral, but finding real pain points and pricing requires talking to users yourself
- Distribution from day one: Build in Public on X, documenting experiments and metrics until the process itself becomes a trust asset
Takeaway: super-individuals win on business judgment × delivery speed; tools are just the lever.
