Xihu Robotics' WR1 shows humanoid folding clothes with dexterous hands, full housework chain

Xihu Robotics (Westlake University's first spin-off) unveiled its general-purpose robot brain WR1, demoing an uninterrupted long-horizon housework chain: fetching corn from a fridge, a smooth U-turn to an air fryer, crouching to collect scattered toys, then tidying bedding in another room—no pauses or task resets.
Key points
- Dual pretraining architecture: a "general brain" (world model + VLA) that outputs whole-body action sequences, paired with a General Action Expert (GAE) acting as the motor cerebellum;
- Motion-state memory, real-time action chunking, and predictive latency compensation enable "walking while working" instead of stopping to manipulate;
- Claimed first public demo of a humanoid completing full garment folding with dexterous hands; its arm platform previously folded clothes in 36s at 100% success;
- Two WR1-equipped robots can collaborate through pick, carry, and fold stages.
The company has raised several rounds of funding at the hundreds-of-millions RMB level, targeting home service, manufacturing, and special-operations scenarios.
