Hugging Face engineer Merve Noyan, interviewed by Argentina's La Nación at Nerdearla, says Nvidia's $12.93B acquisition of HF wasn't a total surprise and that HF will stay a neutral platform with no vendor favoritism. She works on the intersection of open source, product and on-device AI (citing llama.cpp as the most popular local inference engine). HF operates with 250 employees globally while serving as the backbone of model distribution and standardization. She also calls for more transparency in AI and discusses the recent Hugging Face hack.
