Isaac ROS 5.0 lands with CUDA IPC, now installable via Pixi as conda packages
wolfvollprecht · x · 2026-10-09
prefix.dev's isaac-forge packages NVIDIA Isaac ROS 5.0 (ROS 2 Lyrical) and 4.6.0 (ROS 2 Jazzy) as conda packages built on RoboStack, letting you install the full CUDA/TensorRT/NITROS stack reproducibly with Pixi on workstations and Jetsons — no Dockerfile wrangling. Demo: clone isaac-forge and run pixi run demo in the yolov8 example. Isaac ROS 5.0's headline feature is CUDA IPC: node messages can stay in GPU memory, avoiding GPU→CPU→GPU copies; just add the ros-lyrical-cuda-buffer-backend dependency and nodes use it automatically.
