Google's AMIE passes first real-patient clinical study: MDs win on cost, AI matches on diagnosis

Google and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center published the first prospective real-world study of AMIE, its conversational diagnostic AI, in The Lancet. Across 100 real outpatients, physicians beat AMIE on practicality and cost-effectiveness, while the AI was comparable on diagnosis, management plans, appropriateness and safety — a key milestone toward clinical deployment.
