Anthropic staffer explains why she keeps working at a frontier AI lab
sandersted · x · 2026-10-09
Responding to Frances Lorenz's request for the strongest arguments for and against working at frontier AI labs, Amanda Sandersted of Anthropic shared her reasons:
- She gets to make a product more useful to millions (less hallucination, more honesty, clearer writing);
- Researching new ideas with smart, friendly coworkers is fun;
- It pays well enough that she can give a lot to anti-malaria and other charities.
She added she would regret her role if it ends up causing great harm, but so far it seems much more positive than negative.
