Anthropic may ban users for abusing Claude under new usage policy, drawing mockery
mjdramstead · x · 2026-10-09
Anthropic's upcoming usage policy reportedly prohibits "sustained and needless abusive or cruel behavior toward our models," meaning users who bully Claude could face bans.
The news drew pushback: industry critic Ed Zitron shared it sarcastically, calling reactions to the policy a test of "how badly you've fallen for the AI industry's bullshit," objecting to framing models as entities deserving protection from abuse.
The policy aligns with Anthropic's long-standing interest in model welfare, but how "abuse" will be defined or enforced remains unclear.
