Jev works surprisingly well as a cheap general-purpose classifier, dev reports
max_paperclips · x · 2026-10-09
A developer shares hands-on experience using Jev as a general-purpose classifier: the results are surprisingly good. It has quirks like ordering bias, but since it's cheap and fast enough, running best-of-n with shuffled ordering effectively neutralizes the bias.
The author adds that even if you plan to train your own classifier or reranker, prototyping with Jev first is worthwhile — validate the task and data distribution quickly before committing training budget.
