Corporate robot bets graded: only one binding order with unit counts found
lukas_m_ziegler · x · 2026-10-09
The author graded corporate bets in physical AI by one question: do investors actually buy the robots?
Tiers:
- A: binding purchase/deployment deal with unit counts
- B: robots piloted at a named customer site
- C: investor builds or supplies parts
- None found: equity only
Only one A-tier deal exists: Schaeffler–Humanoid, 1,000–2,000 robots by 2032, phase one at Herzogenaurach and Schweinfurt from December 2026.
Elsewhere, Mercedes piloted Apptronik Apollos (10 units, Berlin and Kecskemét) for 12 months before investing; Toyota's Walden Robotics followed a similar path. Pattern: real buyers deploy first and invest second.
