boat spins up 250 agent sandbox VMs for 10 cents: full Ubuntu boxes at $20/mo

boat, a sandbox product by ASCII, offers full Ubuntu VMs built for AI agents: SSH/SCP access, Docker, dedicated IPv4/IPv6, a 60fps virtual desktop, and fast disk-level forking from snapshots, with Docker, Chrome, Ghostty, GitHub CLI, Rust, Node.js and Bun pre-installed.
In a live demo, @AniCdev spun up 250 large VMs simultaneously (2,000 CPU cores, 4,000 GB RAM, 37+ TB real-time-snapshotted NVMe) for a total cost of 10 cents over 20 seconds.
Pricing is per-second with a $20/mo minimum: $20 buys 2,000,000 VM-seconds (555 hours) of 4 vCPU / 8 GB time, across three size tiers (small 0.5x, default 1x, large 2x). Includes a 7-day free trial with 25 compute hours, and boat claims to undercut E2B, Modal, Daytona and similar sandbox providers.
