Bostrom: Pausing AI risks a secret Manhattan Project; Jesos says keep building in public

Nick Bostrom says he supports pacing the frontier but opposes pausing AI: government control apparatus could lock in, and a pause could push superintelligence work into an underground 'secret Manhattan Project' before any catastrophe or labor impact. Beff Jesos agrees: if governments and big labs call for slowdown, they'll keep building in the dark — better to keep capabilities public and progressively diffuse them to harden systems.
