OpenAI math dump called biggest capability leap in 18 months, 'industry-destroying'
willcb · x · 2026-10-09
Developer willcb says OpenAI's recent math dump is the biggest update he's had on capabilities progress in about 18 months. In his view, everything else was more or less priced in, but this leap is 'industry-destroying' in a way that makes it hard to rationalize comparative advantage — implying the model's math/reasoning strength could undermine whole job categories and business models built on those skills.
