Anthropic launches Cyber Mission to patch vulnerabilities exposed by its own Project Glasswing research

- The Register reports Anthropic has launched Anthropic Cyber Mission, an effort to help patch software vulnerabilities exposed by its own Project Glasswing research — critics liken it to a careless camper starting a wildfire and then funding a fire department.
- The program has two pillars:
- Critical Infrastructure Defense Program: pairs Anthropic's most expensive models with on-site (forward-deployed) engineers, working with partners including Accenture and Booz Allen, to help organizations lacking in-house AI security talent defend critical systems like SCADA/zero-day targets.
- Protection for open-source projects from AI-driven attacks.
- Anthropic's assessment: for the next two years, attackers will have the advantage, since AI models can already show miscreants how to exploit newly discovered zero-days to take down public utilities — defenders need access to the same tools attackers are using.
