Semwright: open-source Rust runtime lets LLM agents drive Blender, Godot and LibreOffice
Miserable-Tiger-3443 · reddit · 2026-10-09
A developer released Semwright v1, an open-source runtime written mostly in Rust that tackles the fragmented state of getting LLM agents to work inside existing desktop software.
- Agents connect via MCP or other interfaces; Semwright exposes operations from apps like Blender, Godot and LibreOffice, with a demo of an agent working inside Blender.
- The hard part is failure handling: when a driver changes a scene and then fails, you can't assume rollback — so the project separates execution from verification and tracks what actually happened.
- Integrations vary in completeness; permissions, app coverage and setup UX remain works in progress.
