Palantir CEO Karp: 'I know my idea matters when everyone says it can't be done'
eliano · x · 2026-10-09
Palantir CEO Alex Karp shared his test for important ideas: "I know one of my ideas is important when everyone tells me 'We could never do that.'"
He recounted that MabreyTed, who runs US Commercial, once told him to stop talking to Palantir employees about how big Foundry would get — it was depressing and everyone thought he was out of touch. Karp admits he was right, and had to stop talking about it for six months.
The anecdote doubles as a retelling of Foundry's eventual commercial success and Karp's conviction-under-doubt narrative.
