Strata rewrote its Git history to wipe all 'Co-Authored by Claude' evidence
dasbin · reddit · 2026-10-09
Reddit user dasbin discovered that the open-source project Strata rewrote its entire Git history: a built-in UPDATE script failed with "no common ancestor," and digging in revealed every historical commit had been rewritten to strip the "Co-Authored by Claude" attribution.
The poster calls the move "pretty gross," saying they can't think of any reason to do this other than an intent to be dishonest about the project's origins. The thread raises questions about whether open-source projects should disclose AI involvement.
