AMIE pre-visit histories with 98 real patients: 90% diagnostic agreement, zero safety stops
ymatias · x · 2026-10-09
In a clinical study with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Google's AMIE gathered pre-visit histories from 98 real patients ahead of urgent care visits. Under live physician oversight, no safety stops were required; diagnostic agreement with final reference diagnoses reached 90%; and 75% of clinicians said AI summaries helped them prepare. Google positions AMIE as augmenting—not replacing—clinicians, shifting time from note-taking to human connection. The full prospective study is published in The Lancet.
