Digital health deal volume has declined for six straight quarters, but startups automating healthcare operations are still pulling in nine-figure rounds. Q3 alone saw three $100M+ deals: Forus ($150M for AI-powered prior auth), Candid ($120M for autonomous revenue cycle management), and Penelope Health ($100M for benefits and coverage automation).
Partnerships are stacking up as well: Candid + Flatiron on oncology billing AI, Hippocratic + WellSpan on AI patient calls, Qventus + Honor on staff workflow agents, and Tennr + ACU-Serve expanding referral and intake automation. Healthcare's paperwork burden is proving resilient to the broader funding slowdown.
