Annoyed by 30s Plex Load, One Redditor Rebuilt a Native LG TV Client With Claude Code
eherrerosj · x · 2026-10-09
A Reddit user reverse-engineered their LG TV and rebuilt a native Plex client from scratch using Claude Code, Opus, and Fable — because the official app took 30 seconds to load.
Started in C, moved to Rust, and built a custom OpenGL UI framework along the way. Same TV, same hardware: the profile picker now loads in 3 seconds instead of 30, runs at 60fps, and supports 4K, Dolby Vision, and Atmos. Fully open source. One person with AI tools did the work of an entire firmware/media/GPU engineering team.
