Astrophysicist builds first complete UV map of the sky with Claude in days, not weeks
AnthropicAI · x · 2026-10-09
Anthropic's science blog details how astrophysicist Brice Ménard used Claude Science to create the first complete ultraviolet map of the sky. Full-sky maps exist from radio to gamma rays, but large regions had never been surveyed in UV.
Ménard guided Claude to find existing datasets, combine them, and fill gaps with statistical inference — work that would have taken humans weeks was done in days while he worked on other projects. He frames it as a teaching tool and proof that AI now makes scientists' perennially postponed low-priority work feasible.
