OpenAI fired three safety researchers, alleging mishandling of confidential information. One, balesni, says they were let go for prioritizing safety over the company's near-term interests and wrote to leadership. Ex-researcher olegmurk (5 years at OpenAI) says pressure to ship is overriding safety and that firing safety staff after recent multi-agent security incidents is 'just stupid', urging Altman to rehire them.
