Cryptographer Matthew Green argues that non-classified human cryptanalysis is effectively done by a couple dozen top people, and we assume that's the best achievable. But if we tentatively trust that progress has stalled and a new internal model makes another step-change jump, our trust in these assumptions could collapse at any security level except painfully high ones.
