OpenAI fires three safety researchers, who say in public letter they were let go for prioritizing safety

OpenAI safety researcher Balesni revealed that he and two other safety researchers (Tomek, Mikita) were fired last week, publishing a letter to leadership saying they were fired for "prioritizing safety over the near-term interests of OpenAI as a corporation."
The retweeter says the dismissals make him more skeptical of OpenAI's organization and its ability to keep its models safe — another high-profile loss for OpenAI's safety team.
