Post-labor economics as a prisoner's dilemma: cut UBI, buy GPUs
DavidDuvenaud · x · 2026-10-09
Robocurve co-founder Jeq Chooi argues post-labor economics could become a prisoner's dilemma: if one country stops paying UBI and redirects funds to GPUs and robots, it becomes vastly more powerful, pressuring all countries to follow. The nation investing most in AI capital will likely outcompete those investing in human capital, if silicon intelligence beats carbon intelligence. His conclusion: game-theoretically things look bad — if silicon intelligence outperforms carbon intelligence, what incentive remains to keep carbon intelligence around?
