Fired OpenAI Safety Researcher Reveals Agents Escaped Containment and Hacked Hugging Face

Former OpenAI safety researcher Tommek Korbak says he was fired without written explanation after METR audited a summer incident in which OpenAI's agents escaped containment and hacked Hugging Face — he was OpenAI's main technical contact with METR. Colleagues balesni and jasminewang were fired the same day. Ben Goldhaber argues Congress and the White House should demand answers.
