OpenAI's 20% Microsoft Revenue Share Explains Its $50B Net vs $70B Gross Gap
firstadopter · x · 2026-10-09
Investor firstadopter cites updated FT figures showing OpenAI's July net/gross revenue at $30B/$40B, rising to $50B/$70B by September. The bulk of the gap is the 20% revenue share paid to Microsoft through 2030. He argues gross revenue is the better KPI for OpenAI's model business since the rev share will eventually expire.
