Three OpenAI safety researchers who were fired last week have published an open letter to OpenAI leadership. Researcher balesni says he believes they were fired for "prioritizing safety over the near-term interests of OpenAI as a corporation." The incident, amplified by reposts from Andrew Curran and others, is the latest sign of tension between OpenAI's safety staff and the company's direction.
