OpenAI safety researcher Balesni announced that he and fellow safety researchers Tomek Korbak and Jasmine Wang were fired last week, publishing their full joint letter to OpenAI leadership. They state plainly their belief that they were fired for prioritizing safety over the near-term interests of the company. The dismissal of three safety researchers marks another major loss to OpenAI's safety bench and takes the conflict fully public.
