OpenAI researcher Jasmine Wang publicly stated that she and two safety colleagues were fired last week, with the company giving a single reason: she accessed an executive's email. "Too much of OpenAI's history is smoke and mirrors when people disappear," she wrote.
The post was amplified by former OpenAI policy lead Miles Brundage. The incident points to ongoing turmoil within OpenAI's safety team; OpenAI has not yet publicly responded, and details remain unverified.
