Google Opens SynthID Detector to All: 180B Images Watermarked, Free AI-Content Checks

On Oct 7, 2026 Google opened synthid.com so anyone can check images, video and audio for SynthID watermarks from Google, OpenAI, NVIDIA, Kakao and soon Apple. Google says 180B images/videos and 240,000 years of audio are watermarked, with over 1M daily checks already in Search, Gemini and Chrome. The portal, previously waitlisted for journalists, is now public worldwide in English.
