FT: OpenAI's annualized revenue nears $50B, about $20B below earlier reports

OpenAI recently told investors its annualized revenue was approaching $50B at the end of September — roughly $20B below the $70B figure widely reported last month, per the Financial Times. The gap stems from methodology differences: Anthropic counts sales through cloud partners like AWS and Google Cloud, while OpenAI does not; investors had adjusted OpenAI's figures for comparability, inflating the earlier estimate. OpenAI-related derivatives slipped on the news, and the company declined to comment.
