A researcher used Claude Code with Opus 5.5 and Fable 5.1 to write more than 1,000 scripts that combed through seven years of NASA telescope data, surfacing a new planet candidate. NASA has approved his request for further verification. It's a striking example of coding agents doing real scientific discovery work at scale.
