Artificial Analysis evaluated Google's Nano Banana 2.1 on its Image Arena taxonomy of 7 editing actions and 10 use cases. The model is now Google's best editor on all 7 editing actions, with only the two GPT Image 2.5 models ranking above it on Reasoning-Based Edit and Identity Preserving Edit. Scene & Style Edit jumped from #24 to just behind the leader, and Identity Preserving Edit rose from #12 to #3, keeping people and characters more consistent than Nano Banana 2. Enhancement & Restoration remains the weak spot at #18. On use cases, it ranks #2 in Productivity & Knowledge Work (diagrams, infographics, slides) and jumped from #14 to #3 in Retail & Ecommerce, while Social Media and Animation & Gaming lag.
