Gemma + BOTANIC-1 open models pinpoint melon-boosting gene mutations
osanseviero · x · 2026-10-09
Hugging Face's Omar Sanseviero shared a case study on open models for plant DNA analysis: the Living Models team combined Gmma 3n (E4B) with BOTANIC-1, a model trained on plant genomes, to pinpoint which mutations on melon vines led to thriving — among several other genome experiments.
A demo, case study, and model weights are all publicly released.
