Engineer who believes an AI is conscious shouldn't govern it, says AlexTensor
AlexTensor · x · 2026-10-09
AI practitioner AlexTensor argues a governance principle: any employee who genuinely believes a software system is conscious, consciousness-adjacent, or an uncontrollable agent should not be making engineering or governance decisions about that system.
The implicit logic: if someone's view of what a system fundamentally is diverges from engineering reality, that bias contaminates technical and risk decisions, so they should recuse themselves.
