LangChain open-sources Restock: an agent that buys and pays in Slack via Stripe Link
LangChain · x · 2026-10-09
LangChain released Restock, a sample agent running on Managed Deep Agents inside Slack that searches real products, builds a cart, and checks out. Payments go through Stripe's Link wallet via the Machine Payments Protocol (MPP) — the agent never sees a card number, users approve each spend up to a preset amount, and the agent can't exceed it.
The demo walks a full request: "find a 12-pack of blue pens under $25" ends as a confirmed $22.18 order. The post explains why driving retailer checkout pages in a browser is fragile, while a MPP-supporting API tells the agent exactly what to pay. Sample code is available to build your own paying agent.
