Anthropic study's ignored number: AI could do 81% of US jobs, robots beat humans on just 0.3%

Anthropic's new study went viral for "AI and robots can do 81% of US jobs," but the quoted post highlights the ignored figure: at current prices robots are cheaper than humans for only 0.3% of job tasks, and at the current rate of price decline it would take 40 years to reach 10%. Most robots need environments built around them; in the messy real world they can do about 1% of US work. So 81% is the technical ceiling, 0.3% is what makes money today. Quoter JHochderffer argues digital AI's exponential growth will pull robotics along, with energy and materials as the real bottleneck — jobs will shift toward supervising robots, and your job is more likely to change than to be replaced.
