Google Cloud announced Gemini Agent, pitched as a universal agent for work aimed at small and midsize businesses.
- Runs inside Gmail, Drive, Docs, Slides, Sheets, Chat and Calendar with shared memory, skills and controls, cloud-based and accessible from any device.
- Ships with data-analysis skills and connectors to tools like Dropbox, Asana, Slack, Notion, Salesforce, Shopify and GitHub.
- Can spawn subagents working in parallel, with tasks running for hours or days — delegate an outcome, come back to finished work.
- Model choice is decoupled: each job can run on Gemini, Claude, or soon open models.
Google says SMB usage of its cloud AI tools grew over 5x year over year.
