Unreleased OpenAI model produced nearly all research results from a single agent prompt

Per Scientific American, an OpenAI spokesperson said the company's unreleased new model produced almost every result in a set of experiments in response to a single prompt given to a single AI agent.
Mike Frank highlights that as the most striking part of the story: this wasn't a large swarm of agents grinding for weeks, but one agent with one prompt generating nearly the entire body of results. If accurate, it suggests frontier models can autonomously drive a full research pipeline from a single instruction — though the model remains unreleased and details await official disclosure.
