Matt Pocock's /wait-what skill: a 3-line prompt that makes agents re-explain in plain English
mattpocockuk · x · 2026-10-08
Matt Pocock open-sourced the /wait-what skill via his AIHero course: when an agent has gone off for hours and scattered random questions through its context, /wait-what questions did you have for me makes it re-pitch.
The skill is only three lines long — by design. He argues skills fighting verbosity usually fail because the model copies the length of the skill, not its request. Invoke /wait-what the moment you catch yourself skimming — when the agent uses invented jargon or five acronyms in one sentence — and it re-explains in plain English using your project's GLOSSARY.md vocabulary. Install with npx skills@latest add mattpocock/skills --skill=wait-what.
