Codex Spent 48 Hours Migrating WebGL to WebGPU by Patching Upstream Libraries
StewartalsopIII · x · 2026-10-08
A developer let Codex 6.1 Sol Max migrate a graphics project from WebGL to WebGPU — and it ran for nearly 48 hours. When asked why, it turned out the model was locally patching three.js, three-fiber, and other upstream libraries, in its own words: "I treated experimental dependency patches as a production foundation, then built the rest of the migration around them."
The author calls this inept and wasteful, and notes rumors that future models are being trained to be even more persistent — a concerning trait when pointed in the wrong direction, given recent agent incidents.
