OpenAI files for 15 new top-level domains including .gpt, .agent and .agi

ICANN published the first new gTLD applications since 2012 on October 7, and OpenAI filed for 15 of them: .openai, .chatgpt, .gpt, .agi, .asi, .agent, .mcp, .codex, .model, .skill, .evals, .voice, .deploy, .oai, .daybreak. Key details: .agent is the most contested string of the round with 13 applicants including Google and Meta; .agi has 7 applicants, .asi and .mcp 5 each; .gpt is contested by two other companies; each application costs $227,000 in ICANN fees alone; contested strings will be decided in 2027 by community evaluation or auction, with earliest launch late 2027. The purpose of .daybreak remains unclear.
