CADFather: Autonomous Agentic System Reconstructs Parametric CAD from 3D Meshes
Gennadiy Savrasov · hf · 2026-10-08
CADFather is an autonomous agentic system that reconstructs editable parametric CAD programs from 3D meshes without additional training.
- Motivation: Reconstructing editable CAD models from 3D shapes remains hard, and no single source of CAD operation proposals works equally well across part geometries and reconstruction stages.
- Method: A vision-language assistant inspects renders of targets and intermediate reconstructions, deciding which candidate programs to extend, which tools to invoke, how many proposals to generate, and when to finish. Learned and algorithmic tools propose CAD operations; numerical optimization refines existing program parameters. The agent maintains alternative candidates per part and keeps the best valid result.
- Evaluation: Benchmarked on the full DeepCAD, Fusion360, and MCB test sets plus CADENA-Bench, CADBench, and BenchCAD, with analysis of computational cost and quality-cost trade-offs.
