xAI's cheapest video model, Grok Imagine Video 1.5 Lite, is now on OpenRouter (slug: x-ai/grok-imagine-video-1.5-lite). Pricing vs the full 1.5: 480p $0.02 vs $0.08, 720p $0.03 vs $0.14, 1080p $0.14 vs $0.25 per second, plus $0.01 per input image. A 10-second 720p clip costs $0.30 on Lite vs $1.40 on 1.5.
- Clips run 1-15s across 3 resolutions and 7 aspect ratios; text-to-video or animating a still via first frame (frameimages with frametype "firstframe"); no last-frame support
- Lite is distilled from 1.5, and its 1080p is rendered at 720p then upscaled — with 1080p costing 4.7x the 720p rate, 720p is the sweet spot
- OpenRouter p50 latency over 3 days: 23.4s for Lite vs 32.8s for 1.5
- Also available on the xAI API at $0.020/s (a quarter of 1.5's $0.080), with Batch API support
