Amazon's About You page lets shoppers read AI inferences, including 'has flat buttocks'

Amazon shoppers are discovering the "About You" page in the shopping app, where one woman found the company had concluded she "has flat buttocks."
The author argues Amazon has run this kind of inference for 20 years: behavioral signals like a single purchase of padded leggings led models to conclude things about your body, but the conclusions lived as unreadable vectors, making the creepiness invisible. Only when Alexa for Shopping needed a natural-language memory did Amazon translate that history into sentences users can read. Same data, same conclusions — the only change is you can now see them.
