Investor: AI markets are deep enough for startups to win big beside labs

mattslotnick argues on X that AI labs winning everything is not a given: good AI markets may have enough breadth and depth for startups to win big even in the shadow of the labs. He adds that people underestimate friction beyond product capabilities — brand, go-to-market, customer trust, customer voice, inference costs, owned models, and talent all carry scale advantages, and shipping the right thing matters too.
