AI Builds an Email Inbox in an Afternoon, But Deliverability Is a Lifetime Ordeal
dosco · x · 2026-10-08
Antoine Minoux notes that with AI you can now build an email inbox in an afternoon — but then you own the entire mess: deliverability, bounce management, SPF/DKIM/DMARC, a domain slowly drifting into spam with no clue why, parsing emails from a mail server last updated in 2007, Outlook's many interpretations of HTML, broken threading, nested forwards and reply-all hell.
dosco adds that a model backed by GCP or AWS would be pretty solid with a few more hours of work — the real hard part remains mail delivery and keeping IPs clean. The takeaway: AI has eliminated the cost of building, but not the long-tail operational complexity of email.
