Three recently fired OpenAI employees sent a letter to the company's board on Wednesday, warning that OpenAI and its competitors should not move forward with work that would decrease AI monitorability.
They also claim their firings are having a chilling effect on those who remain at the company. The letter turns an internal safety dispute and personnel shakeup into a public governance controversy for OpenAI.
